Koh Samui Apartments Many people have been investing in property of all description in Koh Samui for a number of years now. There has been a recent upsurge in the number of apartment and condominium units available on the market recently. This type of property has become more popular in recent years due to the relative ease of purchase and ownership rights of properties divided into separate units. Recent amendments of foreign property ownership rights have led to increased interest in the condo and apartment market as it affords greater security and simplicity for buyers. In addition, prices within apartment blocks are favourable, with studios starting at around 1.75 million baht, and average 1-2 bed properties starting at 2.5 million baht. Some developments also offer finance, although of course it is essential to have a lawyer check the terms.
Apartment developments tend to be located in the more developed resort areas around Chaweng Bohput and Lamai, and are therefore close to all amenities. Most apartments are by definition managed, will have access to communal facilities and can generate income through rentals in the owner's absence. Because of the amenities, and central locations, apartments present a good option for vacation rentals, for smaller groups couples or singles. Rental rates will vary but for longer staying tenants could be as low as 10-15,000 baht per month.
