Tree Planting Session by Samui Villas & Homes on 8th May, 2009
Samui
Villas & Homes Co., Ltd. (SVH) is an environmentally conscious
tourism company, and will conduct a Tree Planting Session on the 8th of
May, 2009 in Koh Samui. SVH staff will plant 220 small trees in the
hills above Laem Sor, which have been donated by the Forestry Department
in Surat Thani. SVH carefully choose this day since not only is it
Visakha Bucha Day, (Buddhism's most important festival which is the
anniversary of Lord Buddha‘s birth, enlightenment and entry into
nirvana) but the Thai Government has also declared this day to be
Thailand’s National Tree Day.
This is yet another event that
declares SVH’s commitment and contribution to keeping tourism in Koh
Samui an environmentally sustainable business.
SVH is committed
to minimize the environmental impact of our business and reduce carbon
emissions to protect the natural environment and the local community of
Koh Samui. We will develop our business in a manner that takes into
consideration the balance between the natural environment, social
responsibility and economic prosperity for the benefit of all parties
concerned - our guests, our associates, our neighbours and our
stakeholders.
The meeting point is at Chedi Laem Sor Temple at
9:00am. We will then move to Khao Kwang Community to plant the trees.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 am.
SVH will also give away some of
the small trees to "Baan Bophut School", a public school in Koh Samui,
together with the planting equipment so that the school children can
help contribute to social responsibility and awareness of the
environmental friendly concept at an early age.
